Vitaminstore is the largest retailer in the Dutch market for premium vitamins, minerals and supplements, with the ambition to become the leading European direct-to-consumer player in consumer health. Its growth depends on a customer-centric experience and on protecting margin as volume scales.

The challenge

For a fast-growing D2C retailer, payment cost sits directly on the gross margin of every order. Vitaminstore’s online payment setup had not been put under real commercial scrutiny, which meant margin per conversion was lower than it needed to be at exactly the moment the business was pushing to scale.

The approach

EcomStream ran a focused optimisation of Vitaminstore’s online payment costs. Using deep market knowledge and negotiation expertise, the project identified where the commercial conditions could be tightened and reworked them, a lean approach aimed squarely at lifting profitability without disrupting the operation.

The outcome

The result was a clear improvement in gross margin per conversion, achieved without any change to the customer experience or the technical setup. Vitaminstore came out more profitable per order and better positioned to scale.
